Elsevier and CIESC/CIP Finalize Publishing Agreement for the Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering
Preeminent Chinese Chemical Engineering Journal to Expand Global Reach
Amsterdam, 17 October 2005 - Elsevier and the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China/Chemical Industry Press (CIESC/CIP) have reached a cooperative publishing agreement for the Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering. Launched in 1982, the journal publishes original research papers from both Chinese and international contributors covering major advances and achievements in chemical engineering. The Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering will be available in January 2006 via ScienceDirect as part of Elsevier's existing portfolio of some 30 chemical engineering journals. Elsevier will also manage the fulfilment of international institutional print subscriptions.
The Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering is recognized among Chinese academia and industry as an important source for international and domestic developments in chemical engineering, chemical technology, biochemical engineering, energy and environmental engineering. The journal publishes papers as Research Papers, Research Notes, Chemical Engineering Data or Reviews on the basis of their relevance for theoretical research, practical application or potential uses in industry.
Prominent chemical experts and scholars from around the globe have been invited to form an International Advisory Board and an Editorial Committee. Professor Jiayong Chen (Chia-yung Chen), Co-Editor-in-Chief, commented on this agreement as a major benchmark in the continuing development of the journal, "We are glad that both parties have reached a strong agreement of mutual benefits. This is an important step in the internationalization of the Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering. We hope that this cooperation will lead to better service for both the Chinese and international Chemical Engineering community. Our efforts in documenting and spreading up-to-date knowledge of practical and permanent values will certainly be inspired by this cooperation from now on".
Patrick Jackson, Publishing Director for Chemistry & Chemical Engineering at Elsevier, noted, "We are delighted that the CIESC/CIP have chosen Elsevier as their international partner to increase the reach and impact of the Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering worldwide. This important agreement forms part of Elsevier's comprehensive Chinese Journal Cooperation Program (CJCP), which we launched in June 2005. It is our continuing goal to gain greater exposure for Chinese science internationally through partnerships with Chinese publishers, societies and research institutes. Through distribution via ScienceDirect, journals like this one are likely to be read more widely than ever before."
