Elsevier Signs Co-Publishing Agreement with Tsinghua University Press
New milestone in expanding cooperation with Chinese academic institutions
London, April 16, 2012 – Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, today signed co-publishing agreements with Tsinghua University Press (TUP). The announcement marks another step in the expansion of Elsevier’s publishing partnerships with leading Chinese academic institutions.
The co-publishing agreements were signed today at the London Book Fair by Jun Feng Zong, President of Tsinghua University Press, and Suzanne BeDell, Managing Director, Science and Technology Books, Elsevier. The agreements between Elsevier and TUP are for a new series on computational mechanics, and for a book, System Parameter Identification: Information Criteria and Algorithms, edited by Badong Chen, Yu Zhu, and Jinchun Hu, which will publish in 2013.
“Partnerships of this kind represent an important collaboration between East and West,” said Suzanne BeDell. “The books that flow from these co-publishing agreements push scientific progress by improving the access of researchers around the world to the work of Chinese researchers.”
“Relying on the abundant intellectual resources of China’s top university, Tsinghua University, our press has great advantages in academic publishing,” said Jun Feng Zong. “I believe our cooperation with Elsevier, a global leader in science, technology and medical content and a pioneer in digital publishing, will be exciting and mutually beneficial.”
The agreement represents a continuation of strategic partnerships in China, following earlier successful agreements with Zhejiang University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University Press.
Elsevier’s co-publishing agreement with Zhejiang University Press has produced an intelligent system and technology series. Advances in Intelligence and Security Informatics, Service Science, Management, and Engineering: Theory and Applications, and Flexible Manipulators: Modeling, Analysis and Optimum Design were launched today at a ceremony on the floor of the London Book Fair.
Elsevier’s co-publishing agreement with Shanghai Jiao Tong University Press has produced the Collected Works of H.S. Tsien (1938-1956) which brings together the scientific works of the man considered by many to be the greatest scientist of the past 60 years, written when aeronautic exploration moved from low speed to high speed regimes and astronautic technology took root. This collection was also launched at the London Book Fair today.
