2010 Nobel Prize Chemistry Articles
This year the Nobel Prize in Chemistry was divided between Richard F. Heck, Ei-ichi Negishi and Akira Suzuki "for palladium-catalyzed cross couplings in organic synthesis"
The Carbon atom forms the backbone of molecules in living organisms. However due to its stable structure, (carbon atoms do not easily react with one another), it has proved to be a challenge in the laboratory chemically to synthesize large molecules containing carbon.
According to a statement released by the Nobel Prize Committee, Palladium-catalyzed cross coupling solved that problem and provided chemists with a more precise and efficient tool to work with.
In recognition of the importance of their work, we are pleased to make the laureates’ key articles published with Elsevier freely available.
