Neander on tobacco's medicinal uses
NEANDER, J. Tabacologia: 1622.
One of the earliest known representations of Native Americans engaged in cultivating and curing tobacco, from Johann Neander’s Tabacologia, in which Neander advocated for the cultivation and medicinal use of tobacco, but discouraged its recreational use. This work was printed in 1622 by Isaac Elzevier, in his role as official printer to the University of Leiden.
