What's trending in Food Science

To develop our eBook content, we draw on our powerful, proprietary research tools, including SciVal and Scopus, to identify subject areas where high-quality research output is strong and growing. We then ramp up our content in that area, using global research hotspots to inform our author targets, and search terms and research output to refine our content emphasis. This year, we feature a series of articles in Online Books Connect that walk through key disciplines in which we publish content, to look more closely at the research trends that inform our publication strategy.

In the March 2016 issue of Online Books Connect, we discussed in detail the metrics, including research publication output, Field Weighted Citation Index, and key search terms, which we use to build our content development strategy, to ensure that we’re developing high-quality content in areas of research growth. We also looked at the research trends for a subset of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering: Organic Chemistry. In April, we turned our attention to Biomedical Research, one of our key areas of publication, to explore a key subfield of Regenerative Medicine. This month, we take a look at a growth area in Food Science: Food Processing.
