The Southern Thoracic Surgical Association (STSA) supports southern and southern-trained members of the cardiothoracic surgery community and their families in the pursuit of the highest quality patient care, education, scientific achievement, collegiality, and life balance. STSA represents more than 1,100 cardiothoracic surgeons throughout the country. Although the STSA is a regional society by definition, our members are from all over the United States.
Founded in 1964, The Society of Thoracic Surgeons is a not-for-profit organization representing more than 7,100 surgeons, researchers, and allied health care professionals worldwide who are dedicated to ensuring the best possible outcomes for surgeries of the heart, lung, and esophagus, as well as other surgical procedures within the chest. The mission of the Society is to enhance the ability of cardiothoracic surgeons to provide the highest quality patient care through education, research, and advocacy.
