Virtual Special Issue on Replication Studies

Welcome to this Virtual Special Issue featuring  a variety of replication studies published in Elsevier’s Business and Management journals from 1987-2011.

Replication is an important part of the way that research progresses and there has been much discussion in recent years about a ‘reproducibility crisis’ in science. Researchers build on previous work by trying to replicate their own or others’ studies – in some cases they succeed in replicating the previous findings and in some cases they fail. There is inevitably a great deal of diversity in what people mean by the term ‘replication’ and how they go about trying to verify previous findings in different fields and this is reflected in our selection of articles, but what is certain is that published replication studies provide an insight into the scientific method and the progress of research.
