Carnegie Mellon University

Elsevier and Carnegie Mellon University have entered into a pilot agreement, which provides Carnegie Mellon researchers with access to Elsevier journals and supports open access publishing. Carnegie Mellon authors publishing in Elsevier Journals will be able to publish open access at no additional cost to the author.

  • The author must be a corresponding author affiliated with Carnegie Mellon University
  • The article must have an acceptance date from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2023

Upon publication, the final published article will be made freely available on ScienceDirect under the author’s choice of open access license (CC-BY and CC-BY-NC-ND).

How to publish your article Open Access

Once your article is accepted for publication in an applicable journal you will be presented with the open access publishing option. All open access articles will be published with your choice between two reuse licenses: CC-BY or CC-BY-NC-ND.

Green open access

In addition to the open access pilot agreement between Elsevier and Carnegie Mellon, the university’s authors can continue to choose to publish under the subscription model and self-archive their manuscript (green open access) in line with Elsevier’s sharing policy.
