Dr. Xiaobo Liu works in the Laboratory of Environmental Microbiology & Toxicity at the School of Biological Sciences of The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong. Before joining this team, he worked as a microbiology supervisor for 3 years in the Central Laboratory of Danone (Greater China). During this period, he has accumulated abundant research experience in food microbiology and manufacturing environmental microbiology.
Currently, his research interests and experience cover the following fields: microbial biofilms, biocatalysis for biosynthesis, biodegradation of cultural heritages, microbial electrochemistry, extracellular electron transfer, bacterial syntrophy, environmental microbiology, fermentation engineering, biofuel & biomass, food microbiology and processing, and microbial ecology. Dr. Liu’s recent research papers are mainly published in the journals relating to applied biotechnology, environmental microbiology, and biomass, such as Biotechnology Advances, Microbiome, Algal Research, Biomass & Bioenergy, and Bioresource Technology.
He has currently been nominated as an editorial board member for Science of the Total Environment, Renewable Energy, Biotechnology Reports, and Journal of Molecular and Genetic Medicine, and has also been invited as an internal reviewer for the journals such as Applied Catalysis B: Environmental and Biosensors, Biotechnology Advances, Applied Energy, and Biosensors and Bioelectronics.
