Dr. Rong Ji is a professor of environmental science in the School of the Environment at Nanjing University since February 2006, a PI in the State Key Laboratory of Pollution Control and Resource Reuse. He received his B.S. in chemistry and M.S. in marine chemistry from Ocean University of China in 1988 and 1992, respectively, and Ph.D. in microbial ecology from University of Konstanz, Germany, in 2000. He worked as a Postdoc in RWTH Aachen University and Max-Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology (Marburg), Germany, between October 2000 and February 2006. Since January 2015 he is an associate director of the National Engineering Research Centre for Organic Pollution Control and Resource Reuse, and since May 2016, the dean of Department of Environmental Science. His research interests focus on environmental processes and effects of pollutants, remediation of contaminated environments, and synthesis of radioactive and stable isotope-labeled compounds for their application in environmental studies.
