Dr. I. Matiatos has an academic background in Geology and Hydrogeology. His research interests and activities mainly focus on isotope hydrology, water resources management, hydrogeochemistry, groundwater modeling, applied statistical modeling, climate change impact and environmental monitoring. He has also technical knowledge and practical experience in isotope techniques for the determination of stable and radioactive isotopes in water samples. As postdoc at the University of Ghent (Belgium) in 2013, he started working on N-isotopes for the investigation of nitrogen sources and biogeochemical processes in water bodies. Currently, he is participating in several international isotope hydrology-related projects including the coordination of an international research project on nitrogen pollution and eutrophication in rivers and lakes. He has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed papers, participated in many national and international conferences, and served as a reviewer for peer-reviewed journals.
