Description

Environmental Development is a future-oriented journal that contributes both theoretical and practice-based knowledge for sustainable and low carbon futures. Environmental Development serves as a source of information and learning for researchers, postgraduate students, policymakers, and managers, and bridges the gap between fundamental research and applications in management and policy practices. The journal caters to a broad range of disciplines and authors and welcomes scientific work from all parts of the world.

We invite papers that explore the interface between environmental, social and behavioral sciences to demonstrate interesting and new directions in articulating research questions that could generate new insights and innovative solutions. In doing so the Journal stimulates exchanges between traditional scientific knowledge on the environment, with the experiential knowledge of management practitioners and policy professionals. It is interested in studies that explore the relevance and understanding of global concepts such as sustainable development and solutions to challenges like climate change mitigation and adaptation at local, context specific scales.

Further it links environmental research to broader issues of economic growth and social-cultural changes, and strives to shorten delays between research and publication, while ensuring thorough peer review. Environmental Development also creates a forum for transnational research, communication, discussion and global action.

All submissions to Environmental Development are reviewed using the criteria of quality, originality, precision, importance of topic and insights, clarity of exposition, which are in keeping with the Journal's aims and scope. Submissions to the Journal may be rejected based on an internal review by the Editor-in-Chief under the general category, "out-of-scope" if they fail to satisfy one or more of the above set of criteria. Since the total number of annual submissions to the Journal continues to grow rapidly, we will not be able to provide detailed explanations of reasons for desk-rejection of individual submissions. Once a manuscript has been accepted for peer-review we do our utmost to expedite the review process and inform authors of the outcome as quickly as possible.
The following categories of contributions are welcome:
