Independent Nondestructive Testing and Evaluation

NDT&E international publishes peer-reviewed results of original research and development in all categories of the fields of non-destructive testing and evaluation including ultrasonics, electromagnetics, radiography, optical and thermal methods. This includes the use of these techniques for periodic and long-term monitoring applications. The journal also publishes original papers on the research and development of new inspection techniques and methods, as well as on novel and innovative applications of established methods. The applications considered typically involve assessing the structural integrity of engineering structures and materials. This includes application to civil engineering materials and structures which present a specific set of challenges. Other novel applications are considered where a close link to either traditional applications or techniques can be shown. Application-focused studies should go beyond being examples of best practice and include clear novel features and have wider implications. As well as contributions that progress the physics and engineering science of non-destructive testing, the journal also publishes contributions on novel signal processing and data analysis methods. Use of artificial intelligence or machine learning for any application should be justified and compared with traditional physics-based methods. The expectation is that any modelling or simulation is accompanied by experimental evidence. The journal publishes a small number of review submissions, typically by invitation, with initial enquiries to the Editor-in Chief.
