Open Access Publication Fee

As an open access journal with no subscription charges, a fee is payable by the author or research funder to cover the costs associated with publication. This ensures your article will be immediately and permanently free to access by everyone. The gold open access publication fee for this journal is USD 1548 for Reviews, USD 645 for other articles (Original research articles, Survey articles, Case reports and series, Clinical audits/service improvements, Clinical trials, Debates in Infection Prevention), excluding taxes. Shorter Letters to the Editor, Editorials, and Commentary pieces carry no fees, however must be agreed with the Editor in advance of submission. Editorials and Commentaries are usually commissioned. There is a 20% discount off the open access publication fee for members of the Healthcare Infection Society (HIS). Prices are listed below.

Fee waiver and discount options
IPIP automatically offer waivers or discounts to articles for which all authors are based in a country eligible for the Research4Life program. Find out more about countries eligible for an APC waiver or discount here

Requests for fee waivers from author groups not eligible for a Research4Life waiver must be submitted with supporting documentation outlining why fees cannot be found with the initial submission of the manuscript. Requests for waivers will not be granted after the article is accepted. Please note that IPIP has extremely limited waivers to offer each year outside the Research4Life category and so will only consider the requests of authors most in need.
