Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Dalian, China
Professor Jie Xu received his PhD in 1998 from Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). In the same year，he was promoted to a professor in Zhengzhou University and then became a full professor in Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics. He was Visiting professor in Truman University (USA). He was the director of Laboratory of Fine Chemicals from 1999 to 2013 and is the director of Division of Biomass Conversion and Bioenergy. His research interests focus on designing new catalytic materials, developing methodologies for catalytic oxidation and hydrogenation of hydrocarbon, polyols and raw biomass materials, and investigating the fundamental and applicational petrolium and biomass based chemistry. In recognition of his findings from researches on industrial application of xylene oxidation, cyclohexane oxidation, ethylbenzene oxidation, toluene oxidation, sorbitol hydrogenation, glycerol hydrogenation, etc., Prof. Xu has been granted many rewards for scientific research. He has been granted the titles of Labor Model of Dalian, Outstanding Expert of Dalian and the winner of special government allowance. Currently，Prof. Xu is the professional committee member of the Catalysis and Homogeneous Catalysis Society of China (China Chemical Society). He serves on the editorial board of Chinese Journal of Catalysis, Journal of Energy Chemistry and other journals. He presided over the completion of many foundations, such as National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (863 Program), National Natural Science Foundation of China, Key Direction Program of CAS, Key Program on Revitalization of the Northeast China of CAS. Prof. Xu has published over 200 research papers and 1 scitific book, and applied over 150 patents for invention (with 80 authorized).
