世界狂犬病日特辑

狂犬病通常是因被狗咬伤而起,全球每9分钟就有1人死于狂犬病。2017年世界狂犬病日(9月28日)突出强调一个倡议活动,旨在2030年前,消除这种全球性疾病死亡病例,主要从两方面着手:给犬类注射狂犬疫苗,以及预防人感染狂犬病。为纪念世界狂犬病日,我们整理了一个特辑,收录了Elsevier期刊上最新的狂犬病研究报告,2017年12月28日前均可免费访问。

狂犬病毒是一种会影响恒温动物神经系统的病毒。2015年,全球约17400人死于狂犬病,其中99%的病患都是由于被狗咬伤狂犬病毒通过患病动物的唾液传播--不只是狗,还有浣熊,臭鼬,狐狸,蝙蝠和猫。被咬后,病毒以每天一厘米的速度穿过神经组织进入大脑。除非在进入神经系统之前得到有效控制,否则一经感染,就很致命。

狂犬病: “2030年零死亡”这一倡议是由狂犬病控制全球联盟(GARC),世界卫生组织(WHO), 世界动物卫生组织(OIE)和 联合国粮食及农业组织 (FAO)共同提出的,旨在2030年前,消除狂犬病死亡病例。

调查表明,此类倡议活动获得了全球性支持,这有助于增加我们对疾病的了解,宣传最有效的方法来阻止其传播,以及开发更好的治疗方法。
