Abstracts are now invited on the following topics. They should be submitted using the online abstract submission system.

One aim of the Oxford Dysfluency Conference is to encourage stuttering research and to advance this aim we will be providing a high quality scientific forum for that research.
All abstracts will be reviewed to ensure scientific rigor. Authors are requested to consider the relevance of research findings for clinical practice. Submissions with a clinical focus should consider the evidence base for the methods.

Abstract submissions are sought for the following presentation formats:


Posters may have a clinical or research focus. Please submit a 400-500 word abstract. Sessions will be arranged to take place without additional parallel sessions. Authors will be required to set up their posters in advance of the sessions and to be available to present and discuss their posters during the sessions. A display area on the panel of 1 meter wide x 1.5 meters high (3’3” x 4.5’4.5”) will be allocated for each poster.

Research paper

These should be 20 minutes duration, plus 5 minutes for questions. Please submit a 400-500 word abstract summarizing the aims, methodology, results and conclusions of the research.

Junior researcher forum

The Junior Researcher Forum will target those at the start of their research careers, such as current and recent undergraduates or postgraduates, and practicing clinicians. Such researchers will have the opportunity to present and discuss their research plans or current results to a panel of international specialists in a supportive, constructive, and dynamic environment. Presentations will be 10 minutes and panel discussions will be up to 20 minutes. The panel will comprise members of the scientific committee, expert clinicians and keynote speakers from the conference. If you wish to participate in the Junior Researcher Forum, please submit a 400-500 word abstract, describing your research and any particular questions you would like the panel to help you consider.

JRF participants are encouraged to take advantage of the option for a Scientific Committee Presentation Advisor to support in the development of their presentation.

Discussion paper

Where possible, research should be presented as a Research Paper. However, the Committee recognizes that there will be some researchers who have a body of research or a theoretical perspective that they wish to present that would not fit into the research paper format. There are a limited number of one hour sessions available to meet the needs of these eminent researchers. Please submit a 400-500 word abstract for consideration.


Seminars should have skills development as a focus and may have a clinical or research focus. They will be 1 hour duration and should include both theoretical and practical aspects. Please submit a 400-500 word abstract including the aims and content of the seminar. It may be possible to offer longer seminar sessions in exceptional circumstances.

Scientific committee presentation advisor

Conference presenters will have the opportunity to gain support and advice from a member of the Scientific Committee during the development of the presentation. The Scientific Committee member will be available to discuss options for presentation content and format, and potential audience questions, both prior to and during the conference. If you would like to have a Scientific Committee Member advisor, please contact Shelley Brundage or Sharon Millard.

For revisions or queries regarding papers already submitted:

A condition of submission is that if accepted one of the authors will present at the conference.

Successfully submitted abstracts will be acknowledged with an electronic receipt including an abstract reference number, which should be quoted in all correspondence.

If you do not receive acknowledgement for your abstract submission or you wish to make any essential revisions to an abstract already submitted, please do not resubmit your abstract, as this may lead to duplication.
