11th Oxford Dysfluency Conference Challenge and Change

The Dave Rowley Award for International Initiatives

Dave Rowley served as ODC Chair and Co-Chair for many years before he passed away in 2015. Dave had many professional values, and one of them was international collaboration. He was keen to encourage new research, clinical and learning initiatives in under-resourced or developing countries, and valued collaborative working across countries and disciplines.

The Dave Rowley Award for International Initiatives will be presented to an individual or international collaborative team that exemplifies Dave’s generous spirit, engaging fellowship, and international vision.

The Travers Reid Award

Applications are invited for the Travers Reid Award.  This award is sponsored by the charity Action for Stammering Children and is made in honour of the co-founder and Life President, Travers Reid.

This award is for £300 and is open to any student whose research project was undertaken within the last three years on the subject of stammering in childhood. Applicants should have their abstract (either oral or abstract) accepted for presentation at the 11th Oxford Dysfluency Conference. A letter of recommendation should be sent from the applicant’s supervisor to Ali Berquez at ali.berquez@nhs.net by 1 May 2017.

The nominations/nominees will be judged at the Conference, by a sub-group of the Scientific Committee, taking account of the strength and potential value of the research, as well as the standard of the presentation given at the Conference.  The award will be made at the closing ceremony.  The ability to present at the conference and attend the closing ceremony is a condition of applying.
