As Conference Chairman, and on behalf of the Conference Scientific Committee, I am delighted to invite you to the second International Conference on Desalination and Environment: A Water Summit, ICODE 2016. This exciting opportunity is entirely dedicated to the recent developments in desalination and related technologies, and is to be held in collaboration between Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI) at Qatar Foundation and Elsevier in the Sheraton Hotel, Doha, Qatar, 23-26 January 2016.
The international journal Desalination is supporting this conference and a special issue covering reviewed papers from the conference will be published in the journal. We have made tremendous achievements with Desalination over the last few years. The publication speed for our journal is considered one of the best of Elsevier’s journals, and the number of full-text downloads in 2014 was more than 1.5 million. Worldwide interest in the journal continues to grow, and the impact factor is now 3.960, due to the improvement in the quality of papers published through strict refereeing and examination of the papers submitted. This is due in no small part to the hard work of the editorial board and international reviewers, in not only refereeing the papers submitted, but also raising the standard of the quality of papers.
At ICODE 2016, the Conference Committee has put together a truly unique program that addresses the cutting edge research issues in water treatment and desalination science and techniques. A series of state-of-the-art plenary and keynote presentations will be presented by internationally renowned experts on desalination and related technologies, including thermal desalination, reverse osmosis technology, pre-treatment, post-treatment, harmful algal blooms (HAB), brine treatment, membrane distillation, forward osmosis and pressure-retarded osmosis. These will be accompanied by breakout sessions focused on thermal processes, reverse osmosis, hybrid processes and related technologies such as pre-treatment, scale and corrosion inhibition, bio-fouling control, renewable energy, process economics, resource recovery and water reuse and brine concentration and disposal.
This conference will be the first and foremost platform in the heart of desalination application for sharing and discussing your own research with key opinion leaders across water treatment and desalination industries.
It is a great pleasure for us to invite you all to participate in intensive academic and industrial discussions in a stimulating atmosphere in a city that combines beauty and hospitality in equal measure.
