Wuzhen Laboratory

Wuzhen Laboratory (hereinafter referred to as the “laboratory”) is located in Tongxiang, the permanent venue of the World Internet Conference. It is a new provincial—level R&D institution organized by the Tongxiang Municipal People's Government and supported by the School of Materials of Tsinghua University and the Yangtze River Delta Research Institute of Zhejiang Tsinghua University.

The laboratory focuses on the direction of cutting-edge new materials, based on the scale advantages of Tongxiang's new materials industry, gives full play to Tsinghua University's high-level basic research and cutting-edge innovation capabilities in materials science, integrates cutting-edge new material innovation research and development resources of prestigious universities at home and abroad, and draws on the mature model and mechanism vitality of Zhejiang Tsinghua Yangtze River Delta Research Institute in undertaking the industrial technology transformation and innovation of scientific research institutes in universities to enable the regional economy. Carry out applied research, innovation transformation and industrial incubation in the field of high-end cutting-edge materials, while promoting the introduction of high-level talents and the cultivation of local industrial talents, and contributing to the promotion of industry-scale development and national scientific and technological innovation.

Tsinghua University

Tsinghua University was established in 1911, originally under the name “Tsinghua Imperial College” and renamed "Tsinghua College" in 1912. The university section was founded in 1925. The name “National Tsinghua University” was adopted in 1928. After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War in 1937, it moved south to Changsha and established the National Changsha Temporary University with Peking University and Nan Kai University. In 1938, it moved to Kunming and was renamed as National Southwest Associated University. In 1946, it moved back to Tsinghua Garden and established 5 colleges and 26 departments including Literature, Law, Science, Engineering, and Agriculture.

After the adjustment of higher education departments nationwide in 1952, Tsinghua University became a multidisciplinary industrial university with a focus on cultivating engineering and technical talents for the country, known as the "cradle of red engineers". Since the reform and opening up, Tsinghua University has gradually established the long-term goal of building a world-class university and entered a new era of vigorous development. The school has successively restored or established disciplines such as science, humanities, medicine, and economic management, and established graduate schools and continuing education colleges. In 1999, the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts merged and established the Academy of Fine Arts at Tsinghua University. In 2012, the Graduate Department of the People's Bank of China was merged and became the Wudaokou School of Finance at Tsinghua University. With strong support from the country and society, Tsinghua University has made significant progress in talent cultivation, scientific research, social services, cultural inheritance and innovation, and international cooperation and exchange by implementing the "211 Project" and "985 Project" and carrying out the "Double First Class" construction. At present, Tsinghua University has 22 colleges and 59 departments, making it a comprehensive, research-oriented, and open university with 12 disciplines including science, engineering, literature, art, history, philosophy, economics, management, law, education, medicine, and interdisciplinary fields.

Looking towards the future, Tsinghua University will uphold the motto of "self-improvement, carrying virtue" and the school spirit of "action is better than words", adhere to the educational style of "integration of Chinese and Western culture, integration of ancient and modern, and integration of literature and science", and the cultivation characteristics of "both red and professional, comprehensive development", promote the tradition of "patriotism, dedication, pursuit of excellence" and the spirit of "humanistic innovation". Guided by the socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics, we adhere to the fundamental task of cultivating morality and talents, the highest pursuit of serving the country, the construction of disciplines as the foundation of development, the deepening of reform as a strong driving force, and the strengthening of party building as a strong guarantee. We will open up a new era of high-quality development for world-class universities with Chinese characteristics, strive to advance to the forefront of world-class universities, and make new and greater contributions to national development, people's happiness, and human civilization progress.
