MEMDES 2019 post-conference tour

A tour to Perth Seawater Desalination Plant and Water Corporations Groundwater Replenishment Centre has been arranged for Thursday 5th December 2019.

Please note places are limited, and the tour is subject to a minimum number of bookings.

Return transportation by coach is provided. Pick-up and drop-off will be at the Esplanade Hotel Freemantle.

To begin, the tour group will be shown the plant model in the foyer of PSDP Reception. The tour leader will then describe the process from the seawater pump station to the potabilisation system. The tour leader will also focus on the reverse osmosis process by using the reverse osmosis model available in the reception area. A cartridge filter, reverse osmosis membranes, energy recovery devices (ERD’s) and a diffuser riser are available to be shown during the presentation depending upon group interest in the process. Following the presentation in the foyer the site tour will commence to show the various parts of the plant discussed. The tour will finish with an outline of the control system and how the facility is operated.

The first part of the tour will last approximately 1 hour, after this the group will have lunch provided at the Esplanade Hotel Freemantle before leaving for the second part of the tour.

To begin, the tour group will visit the Groundwater Replenishment Visitor Centre, this will be followed by a visit to the Advanced Water Recycling Plant with Dr Stacey Hamilton -Senior Technical Advisor Membrane Treatment.

Attendees must wear the following clothing for admission to the site:

  • fully enclosed shoes
  • wide brimmed hat
  • long sleeved shirt
  • long pants
  • sunscreen and sunglasses
  • high vis vest (Water Corporation to provide)
