Talk: New developments & innovations to tackle challenges in seawater desalination

Olga Ferrer works in ACCIONA innovation department, from the water business, as Desalination and New technologies Area Manager and as Technical Leader in Desalination. She undertook chemical and industrial engineering as well as her PhD studies in the Polytechnical Catalan University (Barcelona, Spain) and an MSc in Cranfield University (Silsoe, United Kingdom).

She has been working in water treatment since she finished her studies, mainly in R&D&i, but also in engineering, in different international companies. As a result, most of her research is oriented towards industrial application, commonly dealing with demonstrative pilot plants running on representative environments, enabling long-term operation, characterization and assessment of innovative treatment schemes. In particular, her research interests are seawater desalination, drinking water production and wastewater reclamation and reuse by advanced means, especially by membrane-based processes.
