Talk: Reverse osmosis membranes from the circular economy perspective

Raquel García Pacheco is CEO and co-founder of Ecomemb, a spin-off focused on sustainable reverse osmosis regeneration. She is also a Post-doctoral researcher (Juan de la Cierva Incorporación) at LEQUIA group of the University of Girona (Spain). She is being working on membrane recycling topic since 2010. She started at laboratory scale in IMDEA Water (Madrid, Spain) where she did her PhD. She coordinated 2 projects on membrane recycling: the European Life-Transformem project (2014-2018) and the ongoing OSMO4Lives project (Programa generación de conocimiento 2021).

She also actively participated in 10 diverse projects at national (Innovadors and TecnioSpring Marie Curie grants), European, and international level related to membrane recycling, water treatment and activities of dissemination. She is a co-inventor of 2 patents, published 14 scientific papers in Quartile 1, and has given several interviews in national media. She is a volunteer of the Emergency Response Units of the Spanish Red Cross, being deployed in 6 international emergencies (2011-2019).
