Previously, he worked for Chevron, PetroSkills, Shell, Cudd Pressure, and Neal Adams Firefighters assisting in blowout, firefighting, and restoration of wells and production facilities in Kuwait following the invasion by Iraq. He earned a BS in chemical engineering from Texas Tech University. Les has served on multiple API and SPE committees.
