Susi Poli
Susi Poli completed her professional doctorate at UCL Institute of Education. Her thesis has looked at women leaders in higher education (HE) institutions in several countries in Europe to shed light, among others, on the key factors more likely to influence their career in the sector. Overall, this doctorate means for Susi the culmination of more than 15 years spent in HE and the reason why she feels to bring her insight into cultures and practices prevailing in the sector from a practitioner-researcher’s lens. In addition to this doctorate, Susi as professional staff member holds a position as Global brand manager in HE at the University of Bologna, after experiencing several roles in research management over the past years.
Susi was an EARMA board member between 2014 and 2017 and has been part of the advisory board of the international project ‘RAAAP – Research Administration As A Profession’ led by S. Kerridge (Kent University) and S. Scott (Columbia University) and has carried out an extensive analysis of the data internationally.
Susi is actively involved in setting up a social business in the UK arising from findings from her doctoral thesis, so centered around women as leaders in their life and career. Connecting academic research with real-life issues is now at the core of Susi’s efforts and passion.
