Description

Collective Behaviour in Systems Biology: A Primer on Modelling Infrastructure presents useful knowledge for a systematic understanding of the modelling framework in various contexts and provides insights to build models to quantitatively understand biological processes. It provides a basic understanding on why and how the theoretical methods work and their scientific meaning, relating both mathematics as well as input from biological fields in their various applications.

The book discusses topics such as differential equations, systems input into output, systemic processes management, optimization, and organized behaviours and networks. The content is written didactically and with emphasis on interdisciplinary approaches in order to help the reader easily apply the knowledge obtained to their researches.

This book is a valuable source for several members of biomedical field who wants to learn more about mathematical and computational modelling, especially on systemic collective behaviour.

About the Author

Assaf Steinschneider

Since childhood Dr. Steinschneider has been interested in general biology and chemistry, later on focusing more on plant and microbiology, genetics, and especially biochemistry. His professional education in biology is wide ranging including a BSc in organism level agriculture and a PhD in molecular biology. His practical involvement began in raising fruit crops and centred on molecular level research in various aspects of cell biology. He has taught in advanced undergraduate and graduate level courses at leading research universities in the US and abroad. For many years Dr. Steinschneider has been interested in collective behaviour of cellular constituents starting with multienzyme systems, and more recently other aspects of systems biology.
