About the Editors
Giancarlo C Righini
Dr. Righini is a former director of the Enrico Fermi Center and of the National Department on Materials and Devices, CNR. He was also research director at IFAC and vice-president of the International Commission for Optics. His research interests concern fiber and integrated optics, glass materials, and microresonators, with reference to both linear and nonlinear phenomena. He has published more than 500 research papers and co-edited various books. (ORCID: 0000-0002-6081-6971) He is a fellow of the OSA, SPIE, SIF (Italian Physical Society), EOS (European Optical Society) and SIOF (Italian Society of Optics and Photonics).

Luigi Sirleto
As visiting scientist, he spent 2 months in 2001 at University of Twente, (NL) and 9 months in 2003-2004 at UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles)-USA. In 2006, he founded and currently leads the research activities of the Ultrafast and Nonlinear Optics Lab at ISASI-CNR. He is co-author of about 190 papers, mostly on nonlinear optics and photonic devices.
