Liangchi Zhang

Professor Liangchi Zhang is the Director of SUSTech Institute for Manufacturing Innovation, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), Shenzhen, China, as well as the Chair Professor in the Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering at the same university.

He is also Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering. Prior to joining SUSTech, he has been a Scientia Professor and Head of Laboratory for Precision and Nano-Processing Technologies at the University of New South Wales, Australia, and has worked in the University of Cambridge (UK), National Mechanical Engineering Laboratory (Japan), and University of Sydney (Australia). Professor Zhang’s research emphasizes both fundamentals and applications in the cross-disciplinary areas of tribology, precision manufacturing, biomanufacturing, nanotechnology, characterization of advanced materials, solid mechanics, and computational mechanics. He has 11 patents, has authored 7 monographs, 20 book chapters and more than 450 SCI journal papers, as well as having edited another 20 books. He has served as editor and editorial board member on several scientific and technological publications.
