Introducing the award

The Schieber Prize recognizes a young author for his or her outstanding scientific publications in the field of Crystal Growth. Prof. Kimura receives this prize for his innovative work on the nucleation and growth of cosmic nano-minerals based on size effects of nanoparticle. Through innovative experimental approaches, Prof. Kimura has developed a new understanding of the initial formation of materials within space which has extensions to the modern synthesis of nanomaterials He has published over 100 papers in a wide cross-section of disciplinary journals

The International Organization for Crystal Growth Schieber Prize, sponsored by the Journal of Crystal Growth is awarded to a young author to recognize his or her outstanding scientific publications in the field of Crystal Growth. The prize consists of travel and accommodation expenses (to a maximum of USD5000) to the ICCG conference and a certificate citing the contributions made by the recipient. The prize is awarded every 3 years during the ICCG conference.

Rules & Eligibility

Nominations are open to scientists of all nations regardless of the geographical or employment location at which the work was done. The work should be published in the Journal of Crystal Growth prior to the opening of the ICCG conference where the prize is to be awarded. Nominations will be made by the Journal Editors and forwarded to the IOCG Committee who will then be responsible for selecting the winning paper. The prize shall be awarded to one person who will be less than 40 years of age on receipt of the prize.
