Miccai Awards

The Medical Image Analysis/MICCAI Best Paper award is presented annually and recognizes the top extended conference paper from the previous year’s International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention (MICCAI). The best paper is published in a special issue of Medical Image Analysis dedicated to the previous conference.

The award was established by The Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention Society (The ‘MICCAI’ Society), and is sponsored by Elsevier.

Medical Image Analysis provides a forum for the dissemination of new research results in the field of medical and biological image analysis, with special emphasis on efforts related to the applications of computer vision, virtual reality and robotics to biomedical imaging problems.

This is a committee-selected award. The winning paper is chosen by a select, rotating group, which includes the Editors-in-Chiefs (EICs) and members of the MICCAI organizing committee, from the special issue of extended papers from the previous MICCAI conference. The EICs are the only constant members of the selection committee.

The MICCAI Program Committee will initially score the papers and then the Program Chairs make recommendations for the top 7-10 papers to the EICs, who then check for quality and a spread of areas of work, labs involved and narrow the nominees down for the committee to select from.
