Minsk, Belarus, April 3, 2013
Elsevier, the world-leading provider of scientific, technical, and medical information products and services, and the Ministry of Education of Belarus todayannounced the 10 winners of the first Belarusian Scopus Awards.
The Belarus Scopus Award program was initiated as part of the collaboration agreement signed last year between Elsevier and the Ministry of Education in Belarus and is aimed to honor young scientists and experienced researchers for their significant contributions to science both nationally and globally. The initiative is supported by the Committee on Science and Technology of Belarus and the National Academy of Sciences, Belarus.
The criteria for nominee selection were based on h-index scores obtained from Scopus data, as well as recognition in academic performance at a national level. The awards were presented by the Minister of Education of Belarus, Prof. Sergey A. Maskevich, together with Dr. Igor A. Osipov, PhD., Elsevier Regional Director Russia and Belarus.
“It has been a pleasure to honor these ten distinguished young scientists and experienced researchers,” said Prof. Sergey A. “This is the first time Elsevier presents its Scopus Awards in Belarus and we are honored to do this together with Minister Maskevich,” said Dr. Osipov. “It is a unique opportunity for Elsevier to bring international benchmarking to the efforts of Belorussian scientists in order to look at their academic achievements on a larger, global scale.
