President Nursing and Education
Scott Smith is President of Elsevier’s education business, focused on improving outcomes in nursing and health professions education. Scott joined Elsevier in September 2014 as Senior Vice President, Elsevier Education & General Manager, Assessment Solutions. Before joining Elsevier, he was CEO of eLumen Collaborative, a SaaS-based assessment and curriculum management system that provides insight into student engagement and progress. Prior to that, he served as President of Learning Assessment at Pearson. Scott joined Pearson after six years with Kelly Services, where he was General Manager of the America’s Product Group, a $3.5 billion portfolio of staffing services, including Kelly Educational Staffing which he led to being the largest provider of its kind in the world.
Earlier in his career, Scott held multiple executive positions within Thomson Learning (now Cengage). Scott has served as an elected board member for the Software and Information Industry Association’s Education Division. He is a frequent speaker at information and education industry events, has been an advisor to SXSW, and has been a guest lecturer at M.I.T.
