This journal aims to provide its readers with a swift, yet complete, current awareness service. This is achieved both by the scope and
structure of the journal, key features of which are:-
• Careful selection of relevant abstracts (and other bibliographic data)
from the latest issues of 4,000 leading international biomedical journals.
• The arrangement, within each issue, of abstracts
into separate chapters devoted to a specific topic. The journal covers all aspects of public health and social medicine, and includes
health planning and education, epidemiology and prevention of communicable disease, public health aspects of risk populations (e.g. children,
the aged), food and nutrition and environmental radiation, medical ethics, the influence of life style on health and the epidemiological
aspects of water supply and purification. Environmental health is not covered (see section 46: Environmental Health and Pollution Control),
nor is alternative Medicine.
• Detailed author and keyword indexes to allow the reader to locate items of special interest.
