Our editors have long-standing and distinguished careers in their respective fields. Some recent achievements are highlighted in this section.

Prof. Steve Humphries has been named the new Editor-in-Chief of External link  Atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is the official journal of the External link  European Atherosclerosis Society and is affiliated with the External link  Society of Atherosclerosis Imaging and Prevention and the External link  International Atherosclerosis Society.

Professor Humphries is a leading researcher in the field of the Genetics of Cardiovascular Disease, with an international reputation. His research career spans more than 30 years and he has published more than 500 peer review papers, with a particular interest in Familial Hypercholesterolaemia which is a common genetic cause of premature heart disease. He is past President of the British Atherosclerosis Society, and has been a member of the Executive committee and for the last 4 years the Treasurer of the European Atherosclerosis Society.

Dr William Bains, biotechnology entrepreneur and innovator, and visiting lecturer at the University of Cambridge will edit, External link  Bioscience Hypotheses, a new journal for radical hypotheses on topics throughout the life sciences. The aim of the journal is to stimulate innovation by choosing work that is interesting and challenging, and provides a clear and coherent argument with a testable conclusion.

Dr Sabodh Garg of Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), San Diego; Dr Greg Bignall of GNS Science, Wairakei Research Centre, Taupo, New Zealand; and Dr John Garnish (formerly Program Manager, European Commission) in the UK, join Dr Marcelo Lippmann of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory on the Editorial team on a new title to Elsevier's list: External link  Geothermatics.

I am particularly excited by the great potential and environmental benefits of geothermal resources as a sustainable source of alternative energy. Elsevier, in co-operation with the international research community and key professional associations, will seek to further build the journal’s reputation as a high quality source of leading peer-reviewed research literature and technical reference data in the geothermal field” commented Henri van Dorssen, Publisher in the field of Energy.
