Philip Rhodes, Formerly Postgraduate Dean of Medicine and Professor of Postgraduate Medical Education at the University of Southampton
Description
Designed to meet the needs of every woman who wants a clearer understanding of her own gynaecological functions. This illustrated guide
offers a broad overview of gynaecology, covering a comprehensive range of subjects in lay terms which can be read and understood by all
women.
Virtually every woman at some time in her life will feel the need to consult her doctor or gynaecologist about a symptom
or symptoms referable to her genital tract. Any symptoms originating in the pelvic region may raise anxieties about fertility, sexually
transmitted diseases, cancer and many other nameless terrors. The best way to reduce anxiety about anything medical is to try to understand
more about it. That is the intention of this book - to make medical and surgical gynaecology more easily understood by the average
person. The objective is broad understanding, not professional expertise. Professor Philip Rhodes was formerly Obstetric Physician
and later Professor of Gynaecology and Dean of the Medical School, St Thomas's Hospital, London. He has also been Dean of the Faculty
of Medicine, University of Adelaide, South Australia and Post Graduate Dean of Medicine first at Newcastle-upon-Tyne and then Southampton
Universities. He has written a number of books including Woman: A Biological Study, An Introduction to Gynaecology and Obstetrics, You
and Your Baby, An Outline History of Medicine and A Short History of Clinical Midwifery.
