Launching New Journals
The launch of a new journal is a milestone, breaking new ground in research, encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration and creating a focal point for research in a field.
In 2007, we launched the International Journal of Greenhouse Gas Control to an enthusiastic audience. The journal is an essential forum for scientists, industry and government to discuss the capture and storage of carbon dioxide, critical to the fight against global warming.
Biggest scientific achievement
Journals are launched to meet a need in the research community, but the process can also represent a significant professional achievement for the scientists involved. “The launch of the Journal of Informetrics was my biggest scientific achievement and my most important contribution to the field of informetrics,” says Leo Egghe, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Informetrics, which was launched in 2006. “With this launch, the field of informetrics has become more `scientific,’ and developments in the field reach the best audience and authors everywhere.”
