Professor Vedat Verter
Elsevier is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Vedat Verter of McGill University as the new Editor-in-Chief of
Socio-Economic Planning Sciences (SEPS). Professor Verter’s appointment is effective January 1, 2011, and he has been handling submissions since September 2010. As Editor-in-Chief of SEPS, he is committed to further develop the reputation of the Journal in the “public sector decision-making” community. To this end, he will be responsible for ensuring high scientific standards for accepted articles, and will oversee the refereeing and selection process for papers submitted to the Journal as well as initiating special issues on the most important topics in the area of public sector decision making. At the outset, three special issues of SEPS are being planned and the call for papers for these issues will be announced in the coming weeks.
Vedat Verter is a Professor of Operations Management at Desautels Faculty of Management. He is also Associate Member of McGill’s School of Environment and Adjunct Professor at MIT-Zaragoza International logistics Program as well as at Telfer School of Management, University of Ottawa. Professor Verter’s research focuses on supply chain design, hazardous materials logistics, sustainable supply chains and healthcare operations management. His work in these four areas is well recognized through top tier journal publications as well as invited presentations around the globe. Professor Verter is Founding President of the Production Operations Management Society (POMS) College of Healthcare Operations Management He is also Director of the CREATE Program on Healthcare Operations and Information Management, a newly established six-University PhD program across Canada.
The current Editor-in-Chief, Professor Barnett Parker, will remain in charge until the end of 2010. We are very grateful to Professor Parker for over twenty-three years of untiring and dedicated service.
