Elsevier NeuroImage "Video Advisors" Contest

NeuroImage is establishing a YouTube Channel (External link  http://www.youtube.com/neuroimage), with the aim of collaborating with the community with a free-to-view platform for posting and viewing videos related to all areas of neuroimaging. All videos will be screened first to ensure that they are relevant and scientifically sound.

Prior to launching the website to submissions from the community, we would like to identify a team of "Video Advisors" who will evaluate all submitted videos prior to deciding whether to accept them for hosting on the NeuroImage YouTube Channel, as well as prepare a few videos themselves. To identify these "Video Advisors", we are launching a contest.

The Contest

Up to six individuals will become "Video Advisors" to NeuroImage for a period of one year.  This represents an exciting opportunity for each winner to help shape new content for the community, providing a unique opportunity to network extensively within the research community that submits video material.

How to Enter

PhD students and Post-doctoral level researchers in neuroimaging are now invited to submit their own video for the Elsevier NeuroImage "Video Advisor" Contest.  Submissions should be received no later than 30 November, 2009 and must be deposited at  ftp://anonymous.elsevier.com/elsevier-in/NeuroImage (if you have any problems please cut and paste the URL into your browser). It is essential that each video complies with the “Submission Checklist” prior to submission.

Candidate evaluation

The criteria by which the winners of the internship are evaluated:

(1) Scientific Quality
(2) Quality of verbal presentation
(3) Quality of video presentation

The winners will be identified by a panel of judges made up from the editorial team that includes the Editor-in-Chief plus representatives from key sections within NeuroImage (i.e. Anatomy & Physiology, Methods & Modelling, Cognitive Neuroscience and Systems Neuroscience), ensuring that each of the key areas in the field are covered, i.e. neuroscience, physics, mathematics and computational science. The winners of the contest will be notified by email on or about Friday, December 18, 2009.

"Video Advisors"

"Video Advisors" will evaluate video submissions to the NeuroImage YouTube Channel to ascertain whether they are of suitable quality and to submit at least two suitable videos of their own during the 12 months period. In addition, "Video Advisors" would act as champions for the channel.

"Video Advisors" would be announced by the end of December, with the appointment commencing on appointment commencing on 1 January, 2010 and ending on 30 September, 2010. Awards would be honorific (i.e. no remuneration), but winners will be acknowledged as "Video Advisors" to NeuroImage.
