Your society can benefit from a range of options for authors wishing to publish their article open access. For instance, over 1,600 Elsevier journals now offer authors the option to publish their articles open access. In addition, we publish a number of Open Access Journals. Articles published in these titles are peer reviewed and upon publication are immediately free to access by the reading public from our ScienceDirect platform. There are no subscription charges for these publications.
Elsevier has also established various agreements with funding bodies, such as the Wellcome Trust and the Research Councils UK, to allow authors with funding body policies and may be reimbursed for their open access publishing fees. Further, since 2005 Elsevier has had an arrangement with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) whereby Elsevier deposits accepted manuscripts to PubMed Central for authors reporting research funded by the NIH. As a result, Elsevier has deposited more than 80,000 author manuscripts.
We also recognize that some authors wish to self-archive their accepted author manuscripts to their personal or institutional websites. Elsevier has a green open access policy which explains how authors can do this.
