What is TargetInsights?
TargetInsights is an online decision support tool designed for those involved in target identification and validation. By providing unique data contextualisation the tool enables users to identify, prioritize and validate biological targets within specific therapeutic areas more quickly and with less risk.
Who will benefit from using TargetInsights and why?
Molecular biologists, pharmacologists, discovery chemists, bio-information and information professionals will benefit from the full-text co-occurrence searching of the biomedical related literature, linked through a comprehensive taxonomy, as follows:
- Stay abreast of new and relevant research findings and avoid undertaking experiments that research indicates are not necessary
- Build cases for new areas of target research, identify novel targets which competition may not yet have spotted and ultimately become more efficient in moving through target finding to target validation steps.
What does TargetInsights cover?
TargetInsights covers over 5,000 biomedical related journals (published by Elsevier and other publishers), with more than 800,000 articles and associated conferences, added per year. Journal coverage is from January 2005.
How is TargetInsights indexed?
Indexing in TargetInsights is done using a thesaurus of 9 million terms, composed of 9 different taxonomies. The taxonomies are outlined below:
From September 2010 onwards, TargetInsights has indexed the full text, so you may look for relationships between your terms, including synonyms, in the full text. From January 2005 to September 2010, all abstracts have been indexed.
May I set up alerts?
Yes, once you register in TargetInsights and log in with your username and password, you can set up any number of alerts to run on a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly basis.
May I export/download my search results?
Yes, you may export selected citations or all citations found in a specific search to Reference Manager, RefWorks, EndNote, ProCite, Plain Text or CSV formats. you may also select the fields you would like to export.
Which full-text links are offered by TargetInsights?
TargetInsights currently delivers full-text links to ScienceDirect, Karger Online Journals and Springer-Link. Articles from more than 100 additional publishers are available through CrossRef. And further links are offered through 'Ingenta Select'. We provide links to the full text via Digital object identifiers (DOIs), which are used to uniquely refer to an article and ensure that the article may be consistently retrieved. TargetInsights is open-url enabled.
