Pathway Studio DiseaseFx

Pathway Studio DiseaseFx

DiseaseFx™ is a powerful knowledgebase module that works with the core Pathway Studio Solution. The knowledgebase is derived from journals on molecular biology from Elsevier's ScienceDirect as well as articles from other leading scientific publishers. Use DiseaseFx to support new discoveries, find disease or drug response biomarkers, develop hypotheses and create disease-specific mechanistic models from literature-based or experimental evidence.

The DiseaseFx knowledgebase contains molecular interaction relationships such as:

  • Changes in the activity of proteins
  • Changes in gene expression
  • Changes in concentration of metabolites
  • Gene mutations and deletions
  • Changes in epigenetic methylation observed in disease
  • Explicit reference of genes, proteins and metabolites as prognostic and diagnostic biomarkers

From research to application

DiseaseFx in your biomarker discovery workflow.

Linking diseases with information from, DiseaseFx enables you to smoothly transition from molecular interactions in diseases and clinical observations to potential therapies. DiseaseFx integrates explicit references from clinical research regarding confirmed and potential prognostic and diagnostic biomarkers. It can provide a good first approach to determine the specificity of a particular protein as a disease biomarker. DiseaseFx provides decision support for prioritizing proteins that are involved in disease pathogenesis, or that are most specific for prognostic or diagnostic applications.

Adding DiseaseFx to Pathway Studio

DiseaseFx is available as an option, bundled with ChemEffect®, in Pathway Studio Web, or as an independent add-on component for Pathway Studio Enterprise. It is designed to be added to the Mammalian knowledge base. DiseaseFx for Pathway Studio Enterprise includes a disease-centric text-mining module that lets you extract information from literature, including your internal documents, to augment the knowledgebase and to develop a focused data resource for use with Pathway Studio.

Pathway Studio DiseaseFx

ChemEffect® links published information on small molecules, chemicals and approved drugs to their effects on biological systems, such as proteins, pathways and cellular processes.
