SEPM (Society for Sedimentary Geology)

Together, Elsevier and SEPM (Society for Sedimentary Geology) have integrated over 19,000 geological maps from SEPM's market-leading books and journals into Geofacets. Each peer-reviewed map is downloadable, accompanied by metadata, and provides source information including abstract and full-text PDF. Over 15,000 maps are georeferenced for easy integration into exploration projects. Newly published maps are continuously added for access to the latest information.

The Society for Sedimentary Geology has a long tradition of publishing papers that become benchmark contributions to sedimentary geology. With top technical journals and book series, including the Journal of Sedimentary Research and PALIOS, SEPM is a definitive source of essential scientific insights for the exploration of conventional and unconventional oil and gas resources.

This collaboration adds valuable sedimentary-focused content into Geofacets and further enhances research, such as interpreting depositional environments, reservoir characterization and sequence stratigraphy, for geoscientists working in exploration.

Special Offer SEPM Members

New! As a benefit to SEPM and its members, Elsevier is
offering SEPM members exclusive individual access to
Geofacets via the Geofacets-SEPM Millennium Edition.

Learn More

Search, discover, integrate, and analyze over 19,000 geological maps with Geofacets, sourced from the Society of Sedimentary Geology's entire collection of trusted journals and publications, including:

Journal of Sedimentary Research (1931 – present)

The oldest earth science journal dedicated to the field of sedimentology, focusing on the fundamental understanding of sedimentary processes, the origin of sedimentary deposits, the workings of sedimentary systems, and the records of earth history contained within sedimentary rocks.

PALAIOS (1986 – present)

Publishes innovative research on all aspects of past and present life from which geological, biological, chemical, and atmospheric processes can be deciphered and applied to finding solutions to past and future geological and paleontological problems.

Special Publications (1929 – present)

Comprised of almost 100 books, this is SEPM's oldest book series. Each book focuses on a specific topic and chapters are curated by a team of volume editors and invited authors. All of the chapters in a Special Publication are peer-reviewed at the same level as SEPM journals.

Core Workshop Notes (1980 – present)

Features content specifically focused on using cores and includes extensive images. Core analysis provides detailed insight into the characteristics of reservoir rocks, such as porosity and permeability.
