Affiliated with the International Society for Plasmid Biology

Description

Plasmid is a bi-monthly journal that publishes original research on chromosomes and extrachromosomal elements with the emphasis on functions that contribute to their maintenance and transmission. The journal is also a forum for articles on plasmids, bacteriophages, and mobile genetic elements, including transposons and genomic islands that contribute to microbial antibiotic resistance, pathogenicity, and evolution. Papers devoted solely to nucleic acid sequences are not considered unless they provide some functional studies or new mechanistic insights. Plasmid publishes full articles, short communications, and timely reviews.
