Acta Biomaterialia Gold Medal
Acta Materialia Inc is delighted to announce the creation of this new award to recognize excellence in research and development in the field of biomaterials.
The winner of the 2008 Acta Biomaterialia Gold Medal is Professor Robert Langer of MIT.
Biomaterials covers the interface between materials and biological sciences – all aspects from fundamental biomaterials science to clinical applications of biomaterials in the delivery of healthcare.
Biomaterials is the top-cited journal in the ISI Materials Science Biomaterials Category. The journal is constantly innovating to ensure it says at the forefront of biomaterials research.
In 2008, Biomaterials introduced a Biotechnology and Nanotechnology Section and Biomaterials Snapshots – where the most complex scientific data is summarized in one illustration.
A new conference, Biomaterials Asia, is also planned for 5-8 April 2009 in Hong Kong. Find out more on the conference website. www.biomaterialsasia.com
New Journal for 2008 - Journal of the Mechanical Behavior of Biomedical Materials
Journal of the Mechanical Behavior of Biomedical Materialsis an engineering journal specialising in theoretical and experimental mechanical properties of biomedical materials, covering both tissues and biomaterials, as well as practical applications of materials in medical devices
We are delighted to announce a new journal for 2008. Edited by D. Taylor, Trinity College, Dublin, the journal is concerned with the mechanical deformation, damage and failure under applied forces, of biological material (at the tissue, cellular and molecular levels) and of biomaterials, i.e. those materials which are designed to mimic or replace biological materials.
