Call for papers: Directed Issue on "Mitochondrial Dynamics and Function in Biology and Medicine"
Description
The International Journal of Biochemistry & Cell Biology publishes papers containing the results of original research in
all areas of contemporary biochemistry and cell biology. The scope includes biochemical, cellular and molecular approaches to the study
of cells and subcellular processes, and all areas of biomedical research.
Submission of descriptive research papers without a clear
hypothesis and elucidation of mechanism is strongly discouraged and will often result in rejection prior to full peer review. Because
of the breadth of subjects covered by the journal, the aim and significance of every study must be made clear in the Abstract and Discussion.
The journal also publishes state-of-the-art full-length Reviews that provide comprehensive examination of topical areas in biochemistry,
cell biology and biomedical research, written by leading experts. In addition, the journal publishes five series of short "In Focus"
reviews entitled "Molecules in Focus", "Cells in Focus", "Medicine in Focus", "Pathogens in Focus" and "Signalling Networks in Focus".
"Molecules in Focus" articles describe a topical molecule and highlight its potential industrial and/or pharmaceutical applications.
"Cells in Focus" reviews describe cell structure, function, origin, differentiation potential, and associated pathologies of a particular
cell type, with emphasis on recent discoveries.
The "Medicine in Focus" series provides information on recent developments in our
understanding of the pathogenesis of a specific disease focussing on the underlying cell and molecular biology and highlighting any possible
therapeutic applications.
"Pathogens in Focus" concentrates on a particular virulence factor or function associated with a chosen
pathogen.
"Signaling Networks in Focus" articles give an overview of signaling pathways and signaling pathways crosstalks, highlighting
potential therapeutic targets.
International Journal of Biochemistry and Cell Biology Directed Issue "Molecular and
Cellular Evolution: a Celebration of the 200th Anniversary of the Birth of Charles Darwin"
The International Journal of
Biochemistry and Cell Biology is planning a special Directed issue of the Journal on Molecular and Cellular Evolution, to celebrate the
200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin. The Directed issue will contain invited articles from leading international experts
that provide perspectives on the molecular basis of the evolution of biochemical pathways, organelles and cells, the application of computational
approaches, and how this expanding evolutionary knowledge is impacting modern biomedical research. Related submitted research papers
will also be considered. All articles will be peer-reviewed according to the policies of IJBCB.
