frans_nijkamp As of January 2010, Professor Frans Nijkamp is the new Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Pharmacology. He succeeds Professor Willem Hendrik Gispen, who has stepped down as the journal’s Editor-in-Chief after 15 years.

After 15 years of editorial leadership, Professor Willem Hendrik Gispen has stepped down as the Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Pharmacology. He succeeded Professor David de Wied, the journal’s Founding Editor in 1967. During this year a special issue of the European Journal of Pharmacology will be devoted to the Founding Editor.

Professor Frans P. Nijkamp who succeeded Professor Gispen, has been involved in the Journal since 1989 and was an Editor.

Willem Hendrik Gispen’s broad scientific background and enthusiasm have been the driving force behind the successful development of the European Journal of Pharmacology. We are very happy to announce that Professor Willem Hendrik Gispen will continue to be involved with the journal as an Editor.

The Editors have made it their primary task to serve the authors with rapid, personal and careful handling of their manuscripts.

With the appointment of Frans Nijkamp, the journal will start a new “Perspectives” section. For this section, authors of recent articles in the European Journal of Pharmacology are invited to put their work in a wider perspective.

We express the wish that the editorial approach and the growing reputation of the European Journal of Pharmacology, also reflected by the journal’s respectable impact factor, will stimulate authors from all over the world to submit their work for publication in the European Journal of Pharmacology.
