Ian Molineux received his Ph. D. in biochemistry from the University of Oxford in 1969. He has spent more than 35 years at the University of Texas at Austin studying phage genetics and physiology, primarily of phage T7. He has recently focused on the structural changes that phages undergo during adsorption and penetration of the cell and on the mechanisms of genome delivery. He has an ongoing interest in phage therapy and other applications of phages, and in experimental evolutionary genetics using phages as models.
