Journal of Patient Safety & Infection Control
Official journal of the Hospital Infection Society—India
Journal of Patient Safety & Infection Control, the official journal of the Hospital Infection Society—India, is a peer-reviewed publication aimed at spreading awareness, encouraging and augmenting research and education in the field of healthcare associated infections and usage of antimicrobials in human infections and diseases in order to take Patient Safety and Infection Control to highest levels.
Prevention, control, and treatment of infections is a common concern of all healthcare professionals working in healthcare units including microbiologists, clinical specialists from various disciplines and super-specialties of medicine and surgery, nursing professionals, clinical pharmacologists and medical and nursing administrators and central sterile supply department (CSSD) managers. It aims to keep its readers abreast with various aspects of patient safety and infection prevention and control in healthcare set-ups including ambulatory units like dialysis, endoscopy suites, CSSD, physician offices and clinics. It also aims to minimize antimicrobial resistance by tracking upon antimicrobial usage, rationalizing their interaction with microbes in human body and also the research and education on newer antimicrobials.
In the Indian scenario where there is dearth of published scientific data regarding infection prevention aspects, this Journal provides an official forum for experts in various specialties to provide strategies towards implementation of best practices for patient safety, infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship and management. It helps in formulating guidelines about creating a safe environment for healthcare workers, updating about biomedical waste management as well as by formulating strategies for safety of community from environment in healthcare set-ups and vice versa. The Journal would go a long way in creating a safety culture in healthcare through practical evidence-based methods.
