Norman Gitlin, MD, is a highly recognized expert in the field of hepatology whose experience includes membership in eight professional societies and service on several national committees; he's also the recipient of more than 10 research grants. He has published over 80 origninal articles and also currently serves as a reviewer of scientific articles for 10 medical journals, including Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Annals of Internal Medicine, and Liver Transplantation and Surgery. He currently serves on the editorial board of American Journal of Gastroenterology, Gastroenterology Forum, and European Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. In 1995, Dr. Gitlin received the Golden Apple Award for excellence in teaching by the Intern/Residency Staff at the Department of Medicine, Emory University, where he is currently a Professor of Medicine and Chief of Hepatology.
