Helmut E. Meyer received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry 1974 from the University of TÃ¼bingen, Germany and the Ph.D. in Biochemistry in 1976 from the Ruhr-UniversitÃ¤t Bochum, Germany. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the Ruhr-UniversitÃ¤t's Institute for Physiological Chemistry for one year and an employee of Roha Pharmaceutical Company, Bremen, Germany. In 1985 he became a postdoctoral fellow and the leader of the Protein Analytical Group at the Institute for Physiological Chemistry at Ruhr-UniversitÃ¤t Bochum. He's been a lecturer for biochemistry in the Medical Faculty of the Ruhr-UniversitÃ¤t Bochum since 1989. In 2002 he became the Director of the Medizinisches Proteom-Center at the Ruhr UniversitÃ¤t Bochum, which is one of the world's leading institutes in proteome and protein analysis. His research interest covers all medical areas as well as natural scientific fundamentals. Helmut E. Meyer is a HUPO council member since many years and currently the vice-president of the German Proteomic Society.
